Shane's Story

Growing up in the Arctic

Growing up in one of the most extreme environments on the planet, immersed in a culture that was technically not “his own”, Shane was constantly faced with the questions:

Where do I fit in this story?
How is it a part of mine?

Along the way he learned to look past the differences that divide us, recognize the gifts offered by others and connect more deeply to the heart of what makes us human, as we navigate the ups and downs of life with strength, compassion, perseverance and understanding.

Becoming a Leader

This moved Shane— from a young age and before he fully grasped what he was doing — to support, guide, coach, mentor and lead. It came so naturally that numerous teachers in high school asked him to seriously consider becoming a teacher himself.

While he didn’t go that traditional route, these experiences and qualities that played a major role in shaping his unique approach drove him to facilitate the asking of the same questions for others:

Where do we fit in the story?
How is it a part of ours?

… and upon discovering the answers, take radical action to express and contribute in a profound and meaningful way.

Shane's Timeline

Every journey plants seeds along the way that sprout into the vibrant growth of your unfolding story. While not always initially obvious, they serve as strong roots and provide signs of what life and contribution could blossom into…

In the beginning

Born in Canada to young parents who stepped outside the paths common to their families and communities, and onto their own, filled with service and adventure.

5 Yrs Old

Moved to the Dene First Nations community of Deline in the Northwest Territories of the Canadian Arctic.

14 Yrs Old

Attended the Western Arctic Leadership Program, a boarding school program away from home, for his high school years.

17 Yrs Old

Graduated high school and moved to northeast Thailand, volunteering as an ESL teacher at the Santitham Witthayakhom School.

19 Yrs Old

Returned to Canada to attend Aurora College for Environment & Natural Resources Technology Program

21 Yrs Old

Graduated and became a Renewable Resource Officer (sworn in as a law enforcement officer for fish & wildlife, environmental protection and forestry) in the Northwest Territories.

23 Yrs Old

Moved to Vancouver for further education, met and married the love of his life, who has been his partner and best friend on this grand adventure of life ever since.

24 Yrs Old

Made the switch from pursuing a degree in Marine Biology and serving in the Naval Reserves to an acting career in Theatre, Film and Television.

25 Yrs Old

The gift of parenthood began with the birth of first son, calling Shane to further develop inner strength and standing for what he believed in.

27 Yrs Old

Transition from acting, taking his passion for movement and helping his family and friends live their healthiest lives to coaching professionally in the fitness industry.

28 Yrs Old

Family expanded with the arrival of second son, inspiring Shane to connect more deeply to the joy and exuberance life has to offer.

Launched Dare To Evolve™, a transformational lifestyle coaching business centered on longevity and performance enhancing movement practices, integrating mindset recalibration, emotional regulation and goal-oriented action planning to support holistic well-being.

29 Yrs Old

Designed and launched first of its kind unconventional training program, Steel Club Mass Evolution (#1 of 5 he went on to create, breaking barriers and expanding perspective on what fitness could mean).

30 Yrs Old

Began serving as Circular Strength Training Director of Education for Canada and on the International Education Committee for RMAX International.

31 Yrs Old

Welcomed daughter to round out the family unit, igniting the motivation to nurture greater serenity while navigating the “storms” of life.

Moved to Austin, Texas, having been hired by Onnit for his expertise to help expand the business through fitness education and training, leadership development, cultural evolution, community building and brand reach.

It would mark the beginning of 10+ years playing an integral role in transforming a rising mental performance and health optimization supplement company into an industry leading lifestyle brand that became a disruptive innovator across multiple sectors.
